Our self-paced classes have been designed for students who don’t want to attend our live sessions but still want to learn more from our marine biologists about our incredible oceans. Here we tell you a little bit more about our Mini Marine Biology Course: Learn at Your Own Pace.
Who is it for?
They are broadly designed for learners aged 7 – 12 years old. This course is perfect for students who don’t feel comfortable in classroom settings, for those who want to take time to pause and take notes during sessions, or for learners that can’t fit live sessions into their schedule. As the videos are pre-recorded leaners can watch them all in their own time whenever they would like, pausing and repeating whenever they need!
What is provided?
Each course is made up of four topics. For each of these topics you will receive a link to a 30–40-minute video and a related worksheet, which have a range of tasks suitable for different ages as well as games/puzzles. Once the student finishes their course we will also send out a certificate of completion. We are also aways available by email for any questions leaners may have about the animals they have seen, or if they want to show us any of their work.
What do the videos contain?
Each video is stand alone, so can be watched in any order. Depending on the topic we will learn about animal anatomy and behaviour, such as how they hunt or socialise. We look at groups of animals and the characteristics we use to tell them apart as well as learning about the threats they may be facing and what is being done to help them. There will be questions posed throughout the video that the learner can ‘answer’ and some quizzes and games leaners can do in their own time.
